Bowlen explains Cutler deal to fans (AP)

The Broncos said Tuesday, March 31, 2009, they will grant Cutler his request and try to trade the disgruntled Pro Bowl quarterback.

Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said in a letter to season ticket holders Saturday that the organization had no choice but to trade Jay Cutler over his insubordination. Bowlen preached a message of team unity in the e-mail, reiterating that he and new coach Josh McDaniels had reached out many times to Cutler, who didn't respond to their overtures.

Rams sign QB Boller to back up Bulger (AP)

The St. Louis Rams signed Kyle Boller on Saturday to be the backup to starting quarterback Marc Bulger. The 27-year-old Boller spent all of last season, his sixth with the Baltimore Ravens, on injured reserve with a shoulder injury sustained in the preseason. He was Baltimore's first-round pick in the 2003 draft.
